Relaxation is one of the key benefits. Healthy touch can be beneficial. Strengthening, balancing, and toning on a gradient and the gradual return to function, and a greater sense of well-being are other benefits.
Circulation: Massage affects circulation. It warms the skin. Improvement in heart rate, blood pressure, blood circulation, and blood sugar levels are recorded. One may note improvement in digestion, skin and skin temperature. One may sleep better.
Physical symptoms: Headache, heaviness, muscle tension, body ache and pain may ease or leave. Perhaps the body feels lighter, or better stretched, or more content.
Energy levels may improve. There is an attempt during session for the body to balance. It is an energy event occurring because we are energy. Energy does not leave, it changes form. Our cell membranes, inside our cells, organs, fluids, our entire person is energy. It is a natural process as the body seeks balance. That is why the physical frame changes and we have changes or fluctuations in mood, thoughts and temperature as the inner biostasis constantly attempts to balance . During session mental and emotional tension may ease. A heightened sense of well being with enhanced clarity may occur.
Therapists may even cancel a massage if needed, or make a referral to other services (ex. an unusual or sudden change in a skin mole and being referred to a skin specialist.) These are also benefits.

It may take time for progress. It took time for the body to get to the place it is and your body may require time to balance. A series of sessions may be of benefit. It is important to continue at home. Movement, deep breaths, range of movement, aerobic exercise, stretching, mindful thinking, adequate rest, and dietary vigilance, creative actions, with added fun and laughter to reach your goal of optimum health will benefit you. It is the journey that is most revealing.
